Grace of Nirvana by ChildrenOfNirvana

This is a guide to breeding, and it will explain how to breed your Dy. It also contains tips on how to breed smartly, and rules about selling slots and genos. This is a long guide, but it can be incredibly helpful if you don't know what to do, so if you are new to breeding, and even if you are new to Dy breeding, give this a look over! If you know how to do these things, you will always find the breeding approval and breeding requests links in the navigation menu!

  • Please do not ask for the ranges of breeding, this information is not public.

Rules About Selling and Marketing Slots

It's no surprise that even the Dy ARPG has a market in selling slots to Dy. This is how we increase the population and the gene pool in the game, and allow new players to join the fold, or for all players to grow their expansive world with their Dy'Kletiun characters within the game. However, this system can be abused, so we are providing a simple guide of etiquette and conduct to be followed when not only selling your slots, but marketing them too! We will also cover genos and their value in comparison to slots. This is not a price guide!

Selling Slots

Selling slots to your Dy is only permitted after you have completed two of your General Trainings, and an admin has awarded your Dy the Eternal Lotus. The Eternal Lotus is a well known flower found in nearly every Garden on Aets, thought to bring good luck and fertility to nests. It is called the Eternal Lotus, because even during the winter months, this flower survives. During the great war between Dy'Kletiun and Humans on Vryllnithia, fields of Eternal Lotuses were thriving, despite the war torn conditions and the ruined soil. It has since become a beacon of hope and the Empirical symbol of Vryllnithia.

The Eternal Lotus by ChildrenOfNirvana

You may sell your slots for whatever price you see fit, but please remember that breeding is indeed a gamble of random numbers and proper breeding pairs. You  aren't responsible for the breeding choices your buyer makes, but pricing slots at high value when there may be slim chances of it passing can be unfair and can actually cause your own sales to suffer. Watch the market and see what is going in and out of style! What does the community currently want? Also, remember that players are not your artists. They are looking to participate just as much as you may be, so keep your art deals fair not only for the slot, but also for your buyer. If they are offering quality work, consider lowering your price!

Selling slots as "Full" and then claiming that you are be to given any Dy in the nest that meet a certain condition is not a full slot. This counts as a split slot, but it won't be rolled at all. If you are doing a split slot, look at the value of the slot your provide, versus the other player's slot, and who is posting. These come into play when deciding who gets Pick of the Nest [PoTN]. Be fair and kind, and don't be greedy, especially if the Dy you are providing for the split belongs to you!

Selling Genos
Selling Genos is also a way of gaining money in the game! Unlike slots though, these are guaranteed what you see is what you get! A good geno that might be on par with a slot's genes might actually be worth more than the slot, only because it is guaranteed! Just like slots, if you are pricing for art, be fair and kind. Give the buyer activity rolls that include multiple Dy, or allow for other ARPG characters.

Making Deals!
Be mindful of deals, not all players are trustworthy, and sometimes things can come up in personal lives. Keep good communication and be patient on both ends. We can't guarantee you will have the best experience ever with other players, so be mindful and aware of who you are making deals with! Keeping screen shots of deals is also a good idea, because if someone does not honor their end of the  deal and pay you for your work, you can use this as proof when submitting formal complaints to the group.

Marketing Journal Rules
Finally, Marketing your sales is highly encouraged! Use the journal function and submit your sale journals to the advertisements folders. However, you may only submit a journal once per day. So if you have one journal for slots and a separate one for genos, both these journals can be submitted once per day. Also, we highly encourage the use of selling in game items you may have found or even your own profession's services to others. For example, the Engineer can transfuse, or repair, level 4+ gear, so this is something you can market for slots, genos, in game items or currency, and even real world currency!

Submitting journals that have nothing to do with Dy'Kletiun will not be added to our group!

Breeding Permissions and Posting

Once your Dy has their Eternal Lotus, you can post your Dy for breeding if you have another slot. You can also sell those slots if they have any! Remember that after you hit the highest rank, Ethereal, you don't have unlimited slots. You gain 30 additional slots at that level, and then every 150 EA afterwords you get ten more slots in what are called "Ethereal+ Ranks." Your Ethereal+ rank will look like this: Ethereal+1, Ethereal+2, Ethereal+3, and so on.

When you sell slots, you have to post the permission, so that buyer can use them. This includes the link to the Dy's import, the conditions of the slot [full or split], and the rules, such as no inbreeding. Admins review these permissions, and take the rules very seriously. So seriously in fact, that if you are required to tag the owner in the slot usage, and you do not, we will deny your breeding and request you resubmit with the owner tag. Don't worry though, if you forget and catch yourself before we get to you, you can reply to your original posting with the owner tagged and we will count it!

Posting a breeding request can be a fun experience, but sometimes it can be a disappointment when your breeding returns and you didn't get what you wanted. It is important to remember that breeding is a gamble. Even though you might test roll a breeding and get a lot of nice things, breeding is based on Random Number Generation within certain numbers ranges. Just because you get a lot of cool test rolls, doesn't mean the official roll will be what you wanted. Admins who are picked to do breed rolling are highly trusted and have an incredibly amount of integrity, but if you feel that there is unfairness going on, you are welcome to note the group, or to note GroovyPoltergeists who will investigate the situation and make sure that no fowl play is going on. Blaming admins for "bad rolls" is not the way to go about expressing your upset for your unwanted roll.

Each month, your number of breeding slots resets! You are allowed Three posts per month, on average with no additions from events or items. You are allowed Two split slots per month. If you post a split post, it will take up one of your full posts. However, if someone else posts a split involving you, it will only take up their full slot, not yours!

Some things can allow for extra slots per month.
The Merchant Profession = Allows for one extra breeding slot per month, and a small boost to passing mutations to offspring.
Dominance Win = If your faction won Dominance, you will have an extra breeding slot until the next dominance fight. This is usually every other season!

Mystery Pendant by ChildrenOfNirvana

The Mystery Pendant = This item allows you to have an extra breeding, Expedition / Patrol, or Barter per month. You have to pick one of the four, and once used, the pendant is gone. You can also only use it once per month, so if you use one on breeding, but then you have another one, you have to wait till next month to use it again! the mystery pendant is a strange item that scares many people. A blind eye encased with a skull full of teeth. It is said to be created by the Underground Vendor, but it doesn't seem to bring any bad luck to the owner. The Empirical governments do not ban this item, as it has not bitten or harmed anyone as of yet.

The month resets at 00:00 [12 AM] your local time. So if you are in America and see posts from your Australia friends "early", don't worry, they are just a handful of hours ahead of you. You still have to wait!

Breeding Same Sex and Intersex
In our game, we allow for Same Sex and Intersex breeding if you have a Grace of Nirvana. You are not limited to the number of pairs per month you may submit [so you can submit three same sex pairs if you want!], but you must have the Grace of Nirvana for these pairings! Additionally, these pairings will only ever produce one egg.

Male x Male = 100% Male
Female X Female = 100% Female
Intersex X Female = 25% Intersex, 25% Male, and 50% Female
Intersex X Male = 25% Intersex, 25% Female, and 50% Male
Intersex X Intersex = 25% Male, 25% Female, and 50% Intersex

Illystere's Feather by ChildrenOfNirvana

You can also change the sex of a Dy from male, to female, vice versa, or from intersex to male or female with Illystere's feather. However, if you want to change a male or female Dy to Intersex, you can do this without the feather! Illystere is revered as a goddess of fertility and life, however she has never truly created life from nothing. In fact, Illystere is a titan of  healing. Her connection to Visceral, the true Titan of Life, is what has granted her feathers such a wonderful ability.

Breeding Infertile and Necroflesh

Just because a Dy is marked as infertile or as necroflesh does not mean that they cannot breed. It simply means they have increased chance to produce an empty nest. If you provide a Grace of Nirvana, you can mark these Dy as fertile for one breeding. It is not a permenant fix. However, Necroflesh can produce stillborn children.

A little bit more on the Grace of Nirvana

The Grace of Nirvana can be used once per breeding post. It allows for same sex  or intersex breeding, as well as marking an infertile Dy as fertile. Not only does it do this, but it also gives you a 50% chance at having an extra egg rolled in your nest! No one knows where this mysterious item came from, but it has become a very valuable item that is treated with incredible respect across the universe. You can only pick on of the effects that the GoN provides, so choose wisely!

Other Modifiers to breeding

Snow Dire Wolf by ChildrenOfNirvana

The snow dire wolf increases the chance of the rarest of the four base coats to pass to the offspring. This means that if you pair a dark matter to an atom, the dark matter gets a small increased chance to pass down. This will affect the entire nest! Snow dire wolves first made an appearance in the December 2016 advent calendar, but they can be found in many other activities. Most famously, they can be found in the low level of the Dungeon Crawl where you must defeat a pack leader of dire wolves!

The common Dire wolf increases the chance of markings to pass to the offspring. It is a friendly creature, and it can also be found in the same Dungeon as the Snow Dire wolf.

Common Dire Wolf by ChildrenOfNirvana

Brilliant Gryphon by ChildrenOfNirvana

The brilliant gryhon is always a female, and she provides a fertility boost. Allowing for a small chance of an extra egg to be laid in a nest. Highly prized by breeders, these gryphons can be found in dungeon crawl and high level quests. They can be quite prideful and frankly, a little stuck up, as they are fond of their glorious feathers. However they are fantastic at taking care of young children, and many can be seen around Momma's adoption center. Fiercely intelligent and loyal, these Gryphons are perfect for protecting Dy'Kletiun nests.

The Faux Dragon familiar is a small dragon that can, strangely enough, breathe every breath ability. They increase the chance for the children to inherit the rarer breath ability. These are small dragons and come in three colors. Females are green and Gold, and there's only one male type which is white.

Radiation Dust allows for a small chance for a mutation from the parents to be inherited by the child. We are pretty sure there are some draw backs to this strange dust, but as far as it's been seen, nothing bad has actually happened...

Limbo's Presence increases the chance of an aberration or infliction to pass down to a child.

Trait Item this unnamed item increases the chance of a child to inherit the traits from its parents!

Dominion Item this unnamed item increases the chance of a child to inherit the dominions from its parents!

How Rank Affects Breeding

Your Dy's rank, or Level, can affect the outcome of a breeding sometimes. Particularly, if a Guardian is involved. Guardians can produce empty nests unless paired with an Ethereal, or Ethereal+ Dy. Depending on the partner will determine the pass/fail chance. Ranks in Dy have always existed, a system of structure that tells the Dy'Kletiun species how old and wise the Dy may be. Guardians being the lowest, are often seen as young and naive to the world. Those of Ethereal status have met Nirvana in some fashion, and have a better understanding of how the universe functions.

Guardian X Guardian = 50% pass, 50% fail
Guardian X Sentinel = 40% Fail
Guardian X God = 30% Fail
Guardian X Titan = 20% Fail
Guardian X Awakened = 10% Fail
Guardian X Ethereal/ Ethereal+ = 0% Fail

All other ranks paired to non Guardians will produce eggs every time!

Inbreeding

Inbreeding is not illegal in Dy, and you may partake in this kind of breeding if you are allowed to by the rules of the slots you own. However, inbreeding causes the following:

100% Infertility = All Dy born of inbred pairs are Infertile and will have a hard time producing full clutches.
Cyclops or Missing eyes = there's a chance to get one, or neither of these mutations.
Stillborn = Dy can be stillborn from inbreeding.
Blindness = Blindness is a very common occurrence in inbred Dy.
Split Tail = Some Dy are born with an extra tail growing off their current one!
Missing Limbs = Some Dy can be born with a missing limb! There's only ever one missing.

Blindness and Missing Limbs can also be added to an import and not be from inbreeding, as can infertility.

Breeding Base Coats

All Dy have a base coat, and it takes patience and good pairings to get the ones you might want.

If you pair an Atom to an Atom, you will always get Atom, and sometimes even a dominant Atom! However, if you pair a Dark Matter to an Atom, you have a higher chance of getting Atom than you do of Dark Matter.

Sometimes these base coats will pass together. When they do, they create what are called "Combo Coats." Breeding the right Dy together can get you these combo coats!

Traits and Dominions

Traits will pass from parents to children, and can appear at random. This is not mutations like kirin horn or tendril, but rather things like the trait Friends Like These, which lets your Dy have five familiars instead of three. Pairing two Dy with a similiar trait increases your chance of getting the trait! Traits are incredibly hard to pass, so they are very valuable!

Dominions are PVE abilities, and if you breed a Dy that has one, its incredibly valuable because you don't have to draw the prompt and be tested with RNG to gain the Dominion! You are not stuck with it though, if you don't like the Dominion. You can always choose to discard it and replace it with another Dominion. Once removed however, you cannot get it back. Like traits, these are incredibly hard to pass, but they do not appear at random! A Dy with all their Dominions is not only a powerful foe, but quiet the looker in breeding because that's a lot of dominions they can potential pass down!

Physical Mutations and Non Passing Mutations

Physical mutations are passed down from parents, but can also appear at random sometimes. Pairing two parents together with the same mutation will increase your chances!

Non Passing Mutations cannot be passed down from parents. So things like Avian or Heterochromia won't pass to the children just because the parent has it!

Breeding Build Type and Species

While we do not give the specific ranges to breeding, we do give you helpful hints in the breeding of body types, and breeds, as it can be frustrating to keep breeding the same thing and not know what it will give you!

Remember that by pairing Dy with the same markings/mutations you increase your chance of passing those markings/mutations to the children. If you breed Dy who both have lots of markings, you increase your chance of passing lots of markings too!

Dominant markings and bases do not pass 100% to the offspring. There is a marginal fail rate. Dominant to Dominant in common will always pass to the offspring in either recessive or dominant state. However uncommon - legendary has a scaling fail rate of Dominant to Dominant [ legendary fail rate is higher than uncommon]. Just as well, excluding common, a Dominant marking or base to a Dy without the marking / base does not guarantee the marking will pass at all.

Mutations do not have dominant or recessive forms. However, mutation strains like Albino, Melanism, and the Harlequin/Chimeric/Alter Ego mutations can build on each other. For example, if you pair a Super albino to a Super albino, you increase your chances for all three albino strains.

The pairings of Harlequin/Chimeric/Alter ego are as follows:
Common X Common / Harlequin = common and Harlequin
Harlequin X Harlequin / chimera = Common, Harlequin, and Chimera
Harlequin X Alter Ego = Common, Harlequin, Chimera and Alter Ego

Chimera x common / Chimera = common, Harlequin and Chimera
Chimer x Alter Ego = Common, Harlequin, Chimera and Alter Ego

Alter Ego X Common / Alter Ego = common, Harlequin, Chimera, and Alter Ego

:bulletblack: SPECIES TYPES :bulletblack:

Leirvoid X Leirvoid = 100% Leirvoid
Leirvoid X Miorettiel = 50% Leir, 50% Mior
Leirvoid X Vipera = 70% Leir, 30% Vipera

Miorettiel X Miorettiel = 100% Miorettiel
Miorettiel X Vipera = 60% Mior, 40% Vipera

Vipera X Vipera = 100% Vipera
The Dam sets the clutch size!
Leirvoid = 5 eggs max
Miorettiel = 4 eggs max
Vipera = 3 eggs max

:bulletblack: BODY BUILDS :bulletblack:
By breeding more focused builds together you have a higher chance of getting what you are trying for. For example, if you are trying to breed a regal, breeding a regal to a regal is a better choice than breeding a Silk to a horned.
Breeding "spiked" builds, Horned, Finned, and Crocodile, to other spikes builds will create more of those builds, and will not drop feathered builds. The same works with feathered. Feathered x Feather will not created spiked. However, Commons can create spiked and feathers if included with these builds. If common x common, they will not create builds above uncommon.

COMMON
Common X Common = Commons, Crested, Finned, and Horned
Common X Crested = Commons, Crested, Finned, and Horned
Common X Horned / Finned / Crocodile = Common, Crested, Finned, Horned, and Crocodile
Common X Silk / Regal = Common, Crested, Finned, Horned, and Regal

Crested X Crested = Common, Crested, and Silk
Crested X Horned / Finned / Crocodile = Common, Crested, Finned, Horned, Crocodile
Crested X Silk / Regal = Common, Crested, Silk, and Regal
UNCOMMON
Finned / horned X Finned / Horned = Common, Finned, Horned, Crocodile [by pairing a horned x horned you increase chance of horn, and vice versa]
Finned / Horned x Silk /Regal = Common, Crested, Finned, Horned, silk, Regal, and Crocodile
Finned / horned x Crocodile = Common, Finned, Horned, Crocodile

RARE
Silk X Silk/ Regal = Common, Crested, Silk, and Regal
Silk X Crocodile = Common, Crested, Horned, finned, Silk, Regal, Crocodile

LEGENDARY
Regal X Regal = Common, Crested, Silk and Regal
Regal X Crocodile = Common, Crested, Horned, Finned, Silk, Regal and Crocodile

Crocodile X Crocodile = Common, Horned, Finned, and Crocodile

:bulletblack: BREATH ABILITIES :bulletblack:
Every Dy is born with a breath ability! If you breed two Dy with the same ability, all the children will have that ability! If you breed a Rare breath to a legendary breath, you will only get one of those two breaths, not something from the lower tier! So if you are going for a breath you want, make sure the pair you are pairing includes that breath.

If you breed a common to a legendary breath, chances are you will get the common, so breed smart!

Sometimes things can't appear together

Some mutations won't appear together, such as different body builds. However, some mutations won't appear together either!

Melanism and Albinism Strains will never appear on the same Dy'Kletiun, as albino is the lack of black pigment.

Harlequin, Chimeric, and Alter Ego cannot appear together because they are mutations that cause double geno strings.

Unicorn horn, Kirin Horn, and Rhino Horn cannot appear together. They also cannot replace the horns on a Horn build, but they can appear with horns!

Tail Weapons cannot appear together!

Unicorn horn with Cyclops or Triclops cannot appear. Just as well, Cyclops and Triclops cannot appear together either.

Hammer Tail cannot appear on feathered builds. It is a spiked build mutation only!

Avian and Pteropus cannot appear together, either!

Hypo and Nuclear  also cannot appear together!

If we get a stillborn Dy in a breeding, where can we use a Breath of Life to bring them back?

I'm afraid I can't find where to use it :')
